Japanese Shigaraki ceramic matcha bowl

Meet our Japanese Shigaraki ceramic bowl handcrafted in Japan. These bowls are the perfect size for preparing matcha. They also work beatufiully as a soup or rice bowl.

Located in Koka City, Shiga Prefecture, Shigaraki is one of Japan's six old kilns, with a history that goes back 1260 years. In 1976, Shigaraki-yaki (Shigaraki ware) was designated as a traditional craft in Japan.

The unglazed exterior surface allows for a unique tactile experience when holding and drinking matcha from the bowl during a tea ceremony. As with all handcrafted pieces, each piece is unique and differs slightly from piece to piece.
