Meet our Japanese Shimidake Bamboo Chashaku, handcrafted by a master craftsman, Yasaburo Tanimura (Suikaen (翠華園), of Takayama, Nara Prefecture, Japan, designated by the Minister of International Trade and Industry.

About Shimidake: The lifespan of an average bamboo cane is about 10 years, but the lifespan of the entire bamboo grove is said to be about 120 years. In some areas, dark brown spots appear, especially at the nodes, during this 120-year cycle. The colors and shapes vary and should be enjoyed as scenery.
